SportWagens Have Arrived! Come. And. Get. It.

The all new Golf Sportwagen is finally arriving at dealerships. The widely anticipated wagon finally is hitting almost a year after the first mk7 GTIs were delivered. Was the wait worth it? I’d say definitely.

Before we get into details of our newest Sportwagen, the past must be addressed. “What happened to the Jetta Sportwagen?” Well, lets just say it was never really a Jetta. In model year 2002, the US market received its “first” compact wagon. This mIV “Jetta Wagon” was actually a Golf in every other country that this wagon was sold in. Why would VW do such a thing, you ask? The US market has had a long time love affair with sedans, and hatchbacks were never too popular. Because the Jetta was a much more recognizable model in the US at the time, the Golf Wagon was called a Jetta for marketing purposes. This relabeling for the US market would continue with the 2009-2014 Jetta SportWagen, which was again a Golf in every other market.

(Cargo box, wheels, and roof rails can be found at parts.vw.com)
Now that we understand that the beloved Sportwagen really is a Golf, let’s talk details. The Golf SportWagen comes equipped with either a 1.8L turbocharged gasoline engine, or the 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine. The ever so popular 2.0L TDI Clean Diesel engine has been bumped up to 150 hp @ 3500 rpm, with a maximum torque of 237 lb-ft at 1750 rpm. This beautiful inline four cylinder is a turbocharged direct injection, common rail system with an estimated fuel economy of 31 city, 43 hwy* - slight improvement from the previous generation. The gasoline engine however could give our beloved diesel engine a run for its money. This new inline four cylinder is based off Volkswagen’s award winning 2.0L TSI engine, with 170 hp at 4800 rpm and a maximum torque of 185 lb-ft @1600 rpm. This is a bump up from the previous generation’s 2.5L naturally aspirated five cylinder engine. In addition to more torque, the new 1.8L TSI Sportwagen has a better estimated fuel economy of 25 in the city, 36 on the hwy*, and is recommended to use regular unleaded fuel, despite being a turbocharged engine. With the price difference of diesel, the TSI engine could be more practical for a lot of future owners who don’t crave the 400-500k mile longevity of a diesel.

Sizewise the new Sportwagen has increased just a little bit here and there. The passenger volume has increased 2.6 cu. ft, while the cargo space has decreased about 2.4 cu. ft. The wheelbase has increased 2 inches, but the overall length has only grown 0.2 inches, coming out to be 179.6 inches. The width has also only 0.7 inches, coming out to be 70.8 inches. The Sportwagen** may have slightly grown, but it certainly trimmed down. Weighing in at 3063 lb, the curb weight has gone down 123 lbs.

In addition to standard features like Bluetooth connectivity, Car-Net, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio (Limited subscription), the Sportwagen has optional equipment including:

  • Rear-view camera
  • 5.8” touchscreen navigation system
  • Fender premium audio system
  • Climatronic dual-zone (L/R) automatic climate control
  • KESSY keyless access w/ push-button start
  • Automatic headlights
  • Lighting Package including Bi-Xenon headlights with Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), ambient interior lighting, footwell lights
  • Driver Assistance Package including Park Distance Control (Front & Rear) and Forward Collision Warning System

What about that beautiful Alltrak that was shown at the New York International Auto Show? Well, that beautiful beast was actually a Euro-Spec. US models will not be built until the beginning of 2016. There are no confirmed details in terms of power train, but we do know that it will be a SportWagen with 4Motion All Wheel Drive. Availability is due towards the end of next year as a 2017 year model.

(Photos by VWoA)
The Golf SportWagen starts off at $21,395 as a 5-speed manual transmission in the 1.8L TSI gasoline engine. A 6-speed automatic transmission is available for an additional $1100 for the TSI transmission. The TDI Clean Diesel engine starts off as a 6-speed manual at $27,995 as a mid level trim, and a 6-speed DSG automatic transmission is available for again an additional $1100.

Back To School Shopping? Put the Golf On Your List

It's that time of the year again. The kids are back in school and Fall semester has officially begun. Unless you live on campus or attend boarding school, driving is probably inevitable. Whether you're one of the thousands that commuters at George Mason University, a new high school driver, or you venture to Target and Ikea on the weekends from University of Maryland, new wheels could be on your back to school supply list this year. Here are a few selections from our line up that I believe are straight A's.

A Golf For Your After School Activities

(Pure White 2015 Golf TSI SE at Stohlman)
The redesigned 2015 Golf is everything we've been hyping it up to be. Bigger, sleeker, faster, and more efficient. Perfect for any star student. With the new 1.8L TSI as the standard base engine, fuel efficiency has increased almost 15% from last year, with an estimated fuel economy of 26 mpg city/ 36 mpg highway. Not to mention, premium is not required for the new 1.8L T. That's right, Volkswagen actually recommends 87 octane rating for this new turbo charged engine, so don't feel shy about filling her up! And for those long commuters who'd prefer to go the clean diesel route with our 2.0L TDI engine, you can accelerate faster past fuel stations with the 236 lb ft/tq it's equipped with and the estimated fuel economy of 31 mpg city/ 42 mpg highway.

The redesigned Golf has definitely grown as well. It's gotten a little bit longer, a tad wider, giving the Golf a bit more room for you and your passengers to get comfortable. But the cargo room is where it's at. Increasing from 15.2 to 22.8 cu/ft, and up to 52.7 cu/ft with the seats down, you shouldn't have too many issues hauling your cello, hockey equipment, or that volcano science project after class.

(IIHS Results for 2015 Golf courtesy of iihs.org)
The 2015 Golf is also an IIHS Top Safety Pick+. The IIHS is the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, an independent nonprofit scientific and educational organization. Based in Arlington, VA, the IIHS can only test 50-70 vehicles a year, selections being based on various factors including model year redesigns/refreshing. Manufacturers have the right to request crash tests (at the manufacturer's expense) as well. Since the Golf was redesigned this year, it was selected to be tested for 2014, and passed with flying colors. The 2015 Golf and GTI were both selected as a Top Safety Pick+ for 2014. With its good looks, smart features, and a base price of $17,995 (Price excludes transportation, taxes, title, other options, and dealer charges), I'd say the Golf is a safe bet for Class President.

For When Your Children Can't Drive Themselves

If the kids haven't left the nest yet, pick up and drop offs are probably a big part of your weekly schedule. From packing lunches to making costumes for the drama club's production of Grease, you do a lot for your children. Why not do something for yourself, and get a car you'll enjoy for when you pick them up from their Model UN meeting. Enter the Volkswagen Passat. It has timeless lines, curb appeal, and a comfortable interior. Options like a Fender Premium Audio System, a wood inlay, and dual leather/suede combination seats, the Passat can offer those little luxuries you long for. The Passat has several engine options including the 2.0L TDI clean diesel engine, 1.8L TSI gas engine, or the naturally aspirated V6. The Passat also offers one of the biggest rear leg rooms in its class, and an astonishing trunk size of 15.9 sq/ft for all their soccer balls, trumpets, and textbooks. The Passat is also a IIHS Top Safety Pick for 2014, and has won countless accolades since its redesign debut for 2012. If the critics love it, why shouldn't we?

Honorable Mentions

The Jetta and Tiguan receive an honorable mention since they are both very great options for back to school. Several factors preventing me from selecting them as the #1 & 2 pick include the inevitable 2015 Jetta refresh that's due to hit the market any day now. The Jetta has been a top seller for the Volkswagen brand in the US market since its debut, and we don't imagine that it'll slow down any time soon. A popular choice amongst folks in all age groups, the Jetta is always a reliable choice for a great commuter car, and has been a Top Safety Pick since 2009. The Jetta's 2.5L naturally aspirated engine has already been replaced with the new 1.8L TSI. This improvement makes the Jetta feel zippier while it sips on the gas tank. Once the refresh hits dealerships, I have a strong feeling that the Jetta will rise to become a top pick.

The Tiguan has been a Top Safety Pick since its debut in 2009. This compact crossover SUV brings a little bit of everything to the table. Size, style, luxury, performance, safety, and comfort. The only one on my list with its final assembly point being in Germany, the starting price of the Tiguan is a tad higher than the rest of group, with a MSRP starting price at $23,305 (Price excludes transportation, taxes, title, other options, and dealer charges). That being said, the Tiguan is a genuinely fun, yet safe vehicle. The IIHS conducts a roof strength test for instances of rollovers, and the Tiguan was one of the top performers in this test from the beginning. The following video showcases the roof strength test, and solidifies why I drive Volkswagens now, and will for life.

Let us know what what vehicle you think deserves to be on our honor roll this semester by tweeting us @stohlmanauto. Until next time!

We're #2! And New SUV Coming To Chattanooga

Hip hip hoorah! We’re almost there! General Motors announced last Wednesday their car and truck sales world wide from January through June was 4.2 million cars. Which means, Volkswagen advanced to the second place position in global auto sales with 4.97 million YTD. Toyota has not released their numbers yet, but it is expected that they will remain in first place, with an expectation of 10.1 million vehicles by the end of the year.

So why is this a big deal? Not only is this an awesome accomplishment for VW, but it’s just another step towards the ultimate goal of world domination.. I mean the biggest auto manufacturer in the world by 2018.

(Photo provided by @VW media)
In addition to this exciting update, Volkswagen also revealed more fantastic news. For those of you familiar with the CrossBlue concept we unveiled at the 2013 North American Auto Show in Detroit, an SUV based on this design is finally planned for production to take place at VW’s Chattanooga plant. CEO of VW Dr. Martin Winterkorn stated, “This model will play a key role for Volkswagen’s presence in North America.”

The CrossBlue concept showed as a 3 row SUV. It was also initially equipped with a plug-in diesel-electric hybrid powertrain that was under development. This new concept is estimated to average 89 mpg, which would seriously change the automotive game. Similar versions of the conceptual powertrain were unveiled at various auto shows, including a dual electric motor direct injection gas V6 hybrid, which initially showcased on the CrossBlue Coupe concept, estimated to achieve 79 mpg, with a 0-60 time of 5.9 seconds. Pretty fast for not only a hybrid, but an SUV.

(Photo provided by +Volkswagen USA  media)
Chattanooga currently builds the Passat, which has been a success in the U.S. market. The Chattanooga plant currently employs approximately 1,500 employees for production for the Passat. There was much debate on whether another vehicle would go into production in Chattanooga due to the union saga, creating a standstill for the future of Chattanooga and Volkswagen. Tennessee is a Right to Work state, which allows employees to choose whether or not to join/support unions. Chattanooga was the only factory in the Volkswagen Group worldwide to not have any representation, causing the factory to have no representation in Germany.

(Photo provided by +Volkswagen USA media)
The workers voted no - 53% to 47% - on the existing United Auto Workers union based out of Detroit in entering Chattanooga back in February, but VW continued to encourage the workers to consider assembling some type of workers council, so that the group could move forward in expanding production in Tennessee. After many months of debate following the vote, the UAW created a local union to represent workers for Chattanooga, with Volkswagen Group’s approval. Volkswagen issued a statement that said, “Just like anywhere else in the world, the establishment of a local organization is a matter for the trade union concerned. There is no contract or other formal agreement with UAW on this matter.” The local chapter will be recognized when they can get a majority of the workers to join, but Volkswagen has already began its expansion process at the plant.

Approximately $900 million will be invested in the production of the new SUV, with around $600 million being invested in Tennessee. More money also means more jobs. Approximately 2,000 jobs will be created, in addition to an independent National Research & Planning Center of the Volkswagen Group of America. The R&D facility will identify consumers’ feedback for the U.S. market and expedit the integration for Volkswagen models. This will create opportunities for approximately 200 qualified engineers in Chattanooga.

With the goal of delivering 800,000 Volkswagen Group vehicles in the US by 2018, production for the new SUV will begin in late 2016. A total of $7 billion is planned to be invested in North America to achieve this goal as well, to allow the brand to reach their Mach 18 sales goal. Not to make any promises, but I would estimate a mid-late arrival at dealerships in 2017 for the highly anticipated new SUV.

Will you be in the market for 3 rows in the future? Do you think Volkswagen will reach its Mach 18 goal? Share your thoughts with us on twitter @StohlmanAuto. Until next time!

America's German Sweetheart Gets A Refresh - 2015 Jetta

It's very unlikely, especially in the Northern Virginia area, that you can drive anywhere and not see a Jetta. Whether it may be one of the boxy mk4 Jettas, or our modern day mk6 Jetta, you probably know someone who's owned a Jetta at one point in their lives. Heck, my old roommate and I both rocked Jettas at one point, and my mk5 Laser Blue Jetta is still running like a champ in sunny Columbus, Ohio. A recent press release stated that America's favorite VW model delivered 925,000 units worldwide last year alone, making the popular sedan the top-selling car for both Volkswagen and the entire Group. Big achievements come with some big changes. The 2015 Jetta was unveiled at the 2014 New York International Auto Show, and the news is exciting.

The 2015 Jetta receives a small facelift, a few exterior aesthetic changes to compliment its current design. The radiator grille is redesigned in the front with three cross fins, a new bumper, and optional Bi-Xenon headlights with Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS). Each daytime running light for the Bi-Xenon headlights are formed by 15 LEDs that are arranged in an L-shaped string around the xenon modules, creating a distinctive look. Between the LED daytime running lights and the xenons, a chrome element is also placed. A new visual band is created by the radiator grille and the headlights, and with a larger lower air inlet, the Jetta now has a bigger look. In the back, an integrated spoiler extends to the rear fenders, continuing into the contour of the Jetta’s silhouette. New LED taillights for certain models are available which feature a bright stripe and a redesigned VW logo.

The updated Jetta also gets some properties to improve its aerodynamics.  Air drag has been reduced by the redesigned bumper and air intakes, and defined rain gutters near the A-pillars on the sides. Underbody panels at the rear axle and sill covers with wheel spoilers are also equipped. The new 1.8T engine equipped in the new Jetta models also have modified brake ventilation channels, while the GLI and Hybrid models will have special elements such as new front/rear spoilers and sill extensions. The 1.8T and 2.0 TDI will also receive a new aerodynamic feature that is a closable shutter for the radiator grille. This will help shorten the warm-up process of the engine due to reduced air cooling.

The new 2.0L 150 hp EA288 TDI Clean Diesel engine will be offered in the 2015 Jetta. This new TDI is the most fuel efficient yet, estimated to deliver 32 city/45 highway mpg with a manual transmission. The Jetta will also be introduced with a SCR catalytic converter - a complex exhaust gas recirculation system. This system not only meets current emissions standards in the US, but is designed to meet future anticipated regulations. Located newer the engine, the new layout enables faster responses by the oxidation catalytic converter and the SCR catalytic converter. Using the AdBlue additive, the SCR catalytic converter reduces oxides of nitrogen, furthering the reduction of emissions, and also helping to improve the fuel efficiency of the new Jetta.

Inside this new Jetta gets a subtle but big update. A new multifunction steering wheel, redesigned air vent controls, chrome accents around the dual-zone Climatronic control, ambient lighting, piano black accents on the center console and around the gear shift lever, and new fabric colors and seat designs are available. For mid to high trim levels, the dash gauges are framed in chrome-edged tubes, with an available color multifunction display in between. Technology like Blind Spot Detection plus rear cross-traffic alert and frontal collision warning are also now available for this updated Jetta.

The 2015 Jetta is anticipated to hit dealerships closer to the end of summer. With updates on the inside and outside, America’s VW sweetheart will be hard not to love. Let us know what you think about the refreshed Jetta @stohlmanauto. Until next time!

The TDI Clean Diesel Event.... Has Been Extended!

Great news! Our first ever TDI Clean Diesel Event has been extended till April 30th!

What is the TDI Clean Diesel Event? In case you haven’t caught any VW ads recently, they’re all about our first ever TDI event’s awesome incentives. With the purchase or lease of any new 2013 or 2014 VW TDI model, customers can receive a $1000* Fuel Reward Card plus 0.9% APR** for 60 months. And for those traditional gasoline lovers, 0% APR* for 72 months for the Jetta and Passat, plus a $500 VCI Contract Bonus** for the Jetta, and a $750 VCI Contract Bonus** for the Passat. If these great incentives aren’t enough for you to pull the trigger, take a moment to explore some reasons on why people don’t become just drivers, but Volkswagen lovers.

German Engineering

We hear it all the time… How superior German made automobiles are. But what does that even mean? Does it mean that our vehicles are literally crafted by the hands of gods? That might be a stretch, but what isn’t far fetched is the performance that is commonly associated with the phrase “German Engineering”. The Germans may sacrifice things like number of cup holders, but they won’t sacrifice on how the vehicle will perform. Volkswagen is a German brand, with vehicles that are built to be driven on the Autobahn. In specific areas during clear weather conditions, the Autobahn literally can have no speed limit. So if you’re wondering if you can pass someone on the highway, or quickly get off the on ramp on 495 in a Volkswagen…… You definitely can.

German Engineering… Continued.

(@spinnawitz's 2011 Audi S4, Veronica)
Speed isn’t the only thing Volkswagen has to offer in terms of your driving experience. The Volkswagen brand has some of the best performance vehicles under one portfolio. The Bugatti Veyron Super Sport still holds the Guinness World Record for being the fastest road legal production car. Even former Professional Driver and now Director of Driver Management at Spire Sports + Entertainment, Joey Dennewitz exclusively drives vehicles in the Volkswagen family. His current daily driver is a gorgeous Audi S4, his 4th from the Volkswagen Group. What keeps Joey from straying to others? Simple. He expresses, “it straddles the line of performance versus luxury better than any of the others.. Has the right elements of performance without sacrificing the comfort of a daily driver.” The handling “makes any driver feel like a hero.” Isn’t that all we want in life? To have some resemblance of Ricky Bobby? Well for those of us who aren’t blessed with Will Ferrall’s fictitious character’s driving skills, a Volkswagen could very well be the most reasonably priced compromise to enabling that dream.

Do You Think I’m Pretty?

(@alexandriaschub's 2010 VW CC R-Line, C-Bisquit)
Did you know that curb appeal isn’t just a factor for new car sales, but for used as well? Volkswagens tend to hold their value very well, and it’s not just because of what they’ve got going on underneath the hood. Volkswagens maintain their identity, even through redesigns, and stay esthetically pleasing over time. The designs are never too bold or too trendy, so that even after 20 years, our vehicles still look good. Clean and classic designs that are ageless is just another reason why our Passat was ranked Most Appealing Midsize Car by J.D. Power in their Power 2013 Apeal Study. I must agree, the Passat is quite appealing, and definitely very pretty.

Every Time A VW Hits 100,000 miles, a German Engineer Gets Their Wings

In my previous post, the last ad that was featured was our Super Bowl ad from this past year. It stated that every time a VW hits 100k on the odometer, a German Engineer gets their wings. I wish I could say I’ve seen the wings, but I’ve only been to our American facilities, and I’m assuming the international based engineers must be getting priority for receiving their wings as of right now. But nevertheless, it still doesn’t change the facts. Volkswagen has the most vehicles out on the road with over 100,000 miles on the odometer. That includes TDI’s, 2.5’s, even Mark Zuckerburg has a GTI. (Read this last sentence out loud, it rhymes.. Kind of.) The truth is in the masses, which are out on the road. And we’re not shy at all about it.

Are we closer to getting into that new Volkswagen? Then head out to Stohlman VW in Tyson’s by April 30th to test drive and take advantage of this once in a Jetta’s lifetime event. Until next time, tweet us @stohlmanauto!

March Madness at Stohlman VW!

March just happens to be my favorite month. Sports fans get to relish in March Madness, St. Patrick’s Day is on the 17th for those with Irish descent (and those who pretend to be Irish for one day), and of course the most important being my birthday on the 5th. All these events help make the month of March memorable, but Volkswagen’s decided to make March this year the most most memorable with all the crazy incentives and promotions being offered! Some of these deals are too good not to share, so here’s a few that I believe everyone should take advantage of to make this March the best yet.

TDI’s For All!

(Photo from vw.com)
We love diesel and truly believe in our products. And because we love our TDI’s so much, Volkswagen has decided to offer a huge offer special for those who want to be TDI lovers. Until March 31st, Volkswagen is offering a $1000 VW Fuel Reward Card* on 2013 and 2014 VW TDI models. Lets do some math to see how awesome this offer truly is. The average cost of diesel in the area right now is about $4 a gallon. The fuel tank for a Jetta TDI is 14.5 gallons. So hypothetically, lets say you drive every time to the point where your tank is practically empty, it would cost you $58 to fill up your tank. The EPA estimates that our Jetta TDI averages 30 mpg in the city and 42 mpg on the highway. Most of our owners tend to do better than what the EPA estimates, especially using these tips - http://thinkblue.volkswagen.com/en_US/fuel_saving_tips), but if we use the EPA combined average of around 36 (half city and half highway driver), you would be averaging just below 530 miles per fill up. That means a driver could drive at least 9,000 miles with the $1000 fuel card we’re offering before having to pay for diesel at the pump. You’re almost at your first oil change! And if that wasn’t enough, Volkswagen Credit is also offering 0.9% APR for 60 months for qualified buyers. That’s 5 years!

(Over 70% of SportWagens sold in US are TDI's - Photo by E. Grady)
If this hasn’t already blown your mind, for those of you who need to take a little more off the purchase price to make the deal right, instead of receiving a $1000 Fuel Reward Card, the great folks at Stohlman informed me customers can choose to not receive a Fuel Reward Card, but a $1000 manufacturer incentive instead for 2013 and 2014 VW TDI models. This incentive can be combined with any other VWoA National Incentive and financing programs, with an exception of Conquest, Loyalty, Employee lease, and Fleet programs. So if the advertised price tag is what’s holding you back, might be worth talking to one of the VW sales guys to work out some numbers. Either way, if you’re looking at buying a TDI this month, you’ll be able to save at the pump or at the time of purchase.

TDI’s Great and All BUT…..

If a TDI model doesn’t fit your lifestyle, we understand. Not everyone may be a road warrior, or may keep their car for a extended period of time. Although the resale value of TDI’s are higher than gas models, for those who have a daily commute of maybe 20 minutes, or a DCity slicker who utilizes the metro and only drives when needed, our gasoline options may be more up your alley. Those interested in a 2014 Jetta or Passat can get 0% APR** for 72 months and a $500* bonus for Jettas or $750* for Passat when financed and qualified through Volkswagen Credit. That’s 6 YEARS of NO INTEREST. That’s just bonkers!

Hello VW Service Advisor? It’s Me, VW Owner.

BeGoodtoyourVW.com has some awesome coupons available if you’re in need of service this month. Examples include a $20 Mail-In Rebate on a Castrol Synthetic Oil Change, $124.95 or less for Front Brake Pad Replacement, or a Complimentary Check Engine Light Code Reading. That’s quite some savings! Of course we offer a 2 year/24,000 carefree maintenance program, so make sure to consult with one of the Stohlman service advisors before you begin extreme coupon-ing to see if any of the coupons apply to services you may need.

Rugged LuXury - Ten Years of the Touareg

In the market for a new SUV? In particular, a certain German SUV? If the Touareg has been on your short wish list, now might be the time to pull the trigger with the special edition Touareg X.

The Touareg X has been released to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Touareg’s debut. The Touareg happens to be a former whip of mine, and one of my favorite vehicles in our line up. The Touareg has a perfect mix of luxury, performance, and practicality with it’s available super efficient clean diesel engine. When I was driving my TDI Touareg, I achieved in the low 30’s on the New Jersey Turnpike traveling back and forth from NYC to Philadelphia. That’s unbelievable fuel economy for a 5,000 lb vehicle.

The name Touareg originates from the name of a North African tribe called the Tuareg. They are traditionally a nomadic group that moves throughout the Saharan parts of Niger, Mali, and Algeria. The Touareg has an elegant beauty about it, yet is as strong as the Tuareg people, coming equipped with 4 motion AWD and a towing capacity of over 7,000 lb. That’s tough.

The Touareg is a love child of a joint effort by Volkswagen, Audi, and Porsche. They wanted to create off-road SUVs that would still perform like a sports car. The result was the Volkswagen Group PL71 platform, which is shared by the Touareg, Porsche Cayenne, and Audi Q7. These vehicles are all currently built in Bratislava, Slovakia.

The Touareg has had some awesome engines available in the U.S. throughout the years, including the petrol W12 engine and the V10 TDI engine. Although these powerhouse engines were beyond awesome for its performance, they weren’t the best on the pocketbook. To accommodate the best of both worlds, the Touareg now is equipped with 3 different efficient engines - A petrol 3.6L VR6, a 3.0L V6 TDI, and a supercharged 3.0L V6 gas engine and electric motor combined Hybrid engine.

In my opinion, the Touareg TDI is the best option all around. This luxury vehicle’s EPA estimated fuel economy of 20 city/29 highway, it has a range of 765 miles on one tank. That makes trips from DC to Chicago possible without stopping for fuel. And unlike most SUVs, it picks up speed quickly with smooth transitions because of it’s DSG transmission and it’s 406 lb-ft of torque. For a moment you forget that you’re driving a mid-size SUV! The Touareg is also outfitted with premium features like 12-way power-adjustable, heated front seats with driver’s seat memory, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signals and memory, and keyless access with remote start.

Fortunately for you potential future Touareg owners, the special edition Touareg X will be equipped with a TDI engine, based on the Lux trim level. The Touareg X will be available only in a special Moonlight Blue exterior with a beautiful Truffle Brown leather interior. Special features also will include the following:

  • 19-inch ‘Moab’ alloy wheels
  • “Touareg X” badging and scuff plates
  • Ambient lighting with illuminated doorsills
  • LED taillights and LED license plate lightings
  • Piano black interior trim inserts
  • Ebony wood trim decor
  • Alloy pedals

The Touareg X will be a limited production model with only 1000 units to be distributed. Luckily for you, there’s one available on Stohlman VW’s lot right now. Been itching to test drive a Touareg? I’d say there’s no better time than now. For more information about the Touareg X, tweet us @stohlmanauto. Until next time!
